Tart cherry and some herbal notes on this smooth, medium-bodied, mouth-watering French red wine made from Beaujolais' classic Gamay grape. Lots of juicy acidity for food such as planked salmon and roast chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Winemaker Stephane' Averno's 2011 vintage of the Floury Vieilles Vignes Domaine de la Madrilène sources grapes grown in his wife's family's vineyards. “La Madonna" will be on wine labels starting with the 2012 vintage. This wine was aged in foudres (large oak barrels that can hold more than a thousand litres of wine) rather than small barriques (225 litres). - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
