Reviews and Ratings

Julia Kelada rated this wine as 98/100 with the following review:

I have always been loyal to Potuguese wines, but they were always so understocked in the local liquor commission ! Over the last 2 years I have seen a huge improvement in the quality of the wines that are now available from Portugal. The prices too are incredible. In all the time that I have been blogging and raving about "oh you must try this one..." well.... This is the one.....this wine is spectacular...and $19.95!!!!! Need we say more!

The colour is a dark rich and inky

On the nose there are lucious dark cherries which take center stage followed by a delicious rich chocolate and an underlying herbal, earthy note.

On the palate there is a curious hedgerow, mineral note with a cedar undertone. Then all of a sudden there is a punch of dark fruits, mainly black cherries and plums, then WOW! intense dark cocoa with a finale of leather before the most amazing tannins. This dry, full mouthed gem of a wines cores 98 from me...the highest I've ever given a wine!

Bottoms up!

Paul Burt rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The wine of the night! Rich and lush dark berry fruit, cherry, chocolate and coffee, with pepper and nuanced herbal notes, this is classic Douro. MIldly chewy tannins and well balanced acidity round out a lingering aftertaste that has a slightly sweet drk cherry profile - well done and an easy drinker.
Dianne Fisher - Sommelier, ISG rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

This is a rich and full wine from the Douro in Portugal. Its a blend of 40% Touriga Nacional 40% Tina Franca 20% Tina Roriz. Its opulence is complimented by the full gritty tannins and refreshing acidity. You can expect on the nose and palate candied dark plum, ripe black fruits, roasted herbs, sous bois and chocolate.
