Natalie's Score: 92/100

A vibrant, full-bodied Australian red wine with aromas of black plums, smoke and a hint of mint. This is a red wine blend of mostly Shiraz grapes, the country's flagship red varietal. However, winemaker Chester Osborn also adds small portions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Grenache, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo and Pinot Noir grapes to add complexity, depth and richness. You gotta love the name of this wine: pair with a romantic dinner or movies requiring a kleenex box.

Shiraz food pairings: ribeye steak, pepperoni pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A dark ruby red in the glass with a perfumed nose showing cassis, vanilla and a whiff of smoke. The rich, multi-layered palate gives cassis, blackberry, tangy spice and oak. Dry, well-balanced with a long tangy finish.
Since 1912 the Osborn family have tended vineyards in the McLaren Vale, South Australia. Today fourth generation Chester Osborn is winemaker. He uses small batches of grapes, gently crushed then transferred to open fermenters. Foot treading is undertaken two thirds of the way through fermentation, the wine is basket pressed and then aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. - Community Wine Reviews
