From the McLaren Vale, South Australia, d'Arenberg The Hermit Crab 2023 is an amazing value Viognier and Marsanne white wine blend at $18. Crafted by Chester Osborn, one of Australia's most respected winemaker of top-tier reds, also works wonders with white Rhône varieties, with this example crisp and fresh on the palate with ripe peach, melon, tropical fruits, citrus-zest and subtle spicy notes. "The Hermit Crab" refers to the fossils that make up the limestone-laden McLaren Vale vineyards and the French appellation of Hermitage.

Viognier Marsanne food pairings: wild rice cranberry stuffed Cornish hens, veal cutlet in creamy mushroom sauce, grilled veal Porterhouse.
