An elegant, balanced, complex BC red wine blend that has Bordeaux leanings. This wine could use some more cellar time, then decant for 1-2 hours when you open it. The grapes are sourced from vines planted in micro-blocks of the Triggs family estate on the Golden Mile. Dark chocolate and cigar box on the finish. Huge structure here. There were 2300 cases produced.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Rich and concentrated dark fruits, spice, pepper, and savoury notes. The palate is rich and powerful, with a beautiful balance of tannin, fruit, and acid. Culmina's motto is 'creating wines of excellence through the blending of art and science' and from what I taste they're excelling at that! A cellar worthy wine, one that will continue to evolve over the next decade. A prime candidate for starting a vertical in your cellar. Tasted June 2015. 90-92 points. Matt Steeves
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This Okanagan red blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc is a dark and concentrated elixir of passion. This "blend of art and science" explodes with ripe black fruit, chocolate, fresh red berries, sweet spices and some back end savoury notes. Tannins are evident but controlled with medium+ acidity, 14%abv and loads of fruit. This is a full-bodied wine and time in the cellar will reward you. Enjoy today by decanting 2 hours paired with a fine cut of beef. #freemygrapes

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The 2012 vintage delivers on expectations. Wonderful expression of the varietal and terroir. Enjoyed with BBQ bacon wrapped AAA sirloin. @jonsteeves rated 92/100
This new BC winery, Culmina, is a new venture by Donald Triggs, who founded Jackson-Triggs winery. The 2012 is a red wine blend of 57% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Cabernet Franc grapes, as compared to the 2011 vintage which was 40% Cabernet Franc, 36% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2012 wine was matured for 16 months in French oak barrels, of which 70% was new. - Community Wine Reviews
