Natalie's Score: 94/100

This is an organic wine made from the classic Sangiovese grape. Dark and smoky. Pleasantly bitter black fruit on the nose mingles with wild violets and tar. Consistently good, vintage after vintage and 2010 was a strong one. This wine is unfiltered, which gives it lots of character and stuffing, and almost a dark, feral nature. Decant for 2 hours, pair with osso buco, and put on some Italian baroque music.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: ravioli, autumn hodge-podge, chilli, bastilles, onion dip.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lovely to see this wine back in Ontario but it's changed. Classic nose of floral elements and cherry. Beautifully smooth, with a kiss of sweetness and obvious oak. A more modern style Brunello from a traditional region. I really liked it but be open-minded if you expect classic Brunello.
Pleasantly bitter black fruit on the nose mingles with wild violets and tar: trust me, this is a good thing. Simply delicious: one of the best brunellos I've tasted in a long time. This wine is unfiltered, which gives it lots of character and stuffing, and almost a dark, feral nature. Decant for 2 hours, pair with osso buco, and put on some Italian baroque music. - Community Wine Reviews
