A juicy, delicious Rioja red wine with attractive aromas of fleshy black fruit. Love the layering and complexity on this wine as well as the long finish. Pair with lamb and rosemary. Firm and persistent tannins on the palate with ripe blackberries and spices. This Spanish red wine was aged for 20 months in French and American oak barrels. This is a red wine blend of 90% Tempranillo, 5% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano grapes. Polished, nice finish. Finishes with vanilla spice and leather. Decant 2 hours. Pair with mushroom risotto.

Tempranillo food pairings: herbed steaks, Portobello mushroom, chili, grilled lamb steaks, pan-seared venison.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This wine has classic fresh and dried briar and cherry aromas and flavours, along with animal hide, fresh cigar tobacco, herb and a hint of tomato leaf. This is Rioja. This demands lamb. 93 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Wineboy rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A more traditional style Spanish wine offering more restraint in oak and a dryer style. Some dried fruit aromas (raisins?) and dusty wood flavours and textures. We don't see as many like this these days so a good research project here (as if you would need any justification to open a nice bottle of wine tonight)
