Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This beauty comes from an outer lying Bordeaux AOC on the right-hand side of the Bordeaux Estuary, just east of St.Emillion (Castillon). This weird Spot sports a mixture of Right and Left Bank soils - warm sand and gravel on top of cooler clay and limestone. Usually, this blend is around 80% Merlot and equal portions of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Clear, with light sedimentation. Purple core, with a rosy-red rim.
Aromas of violet, black plum, cherry coulis, chocolate and wet tobacco to the aromas, whose persistence make it all the more compelling.

The flavours meld a bracing mineral structure to a soft and gushy fruit character. It has decent weight and a high alcohol that certainly drives the flavours home. There's a ton of oak. Flavours of vanilla, chocolate, and charred barrel. However, as it had time to breathe, it lets go of the oak and allows some more of the red and black fruit to show through.

Pair this with rich fare. Pan seared quail in a brandy glaze, or barbecued lamb would be great. This wine has lots of freshness to it, but i would hesitate keeping it longer than another 5-7.
