Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Another wine from Clos du Val! Having just been at the winery, we were so excited to see there were 2 Clos du Val wines in Vintages last week, and while I normally don't spend over $20 for wine, this was a special occasion (first cottage weekend of the year!) so we made an exception. We had not tried this particular Zinfandel when we were in Napa, but I knew I would love it, and I wasn't wrong.
What I love about Zinfandel in general is the aroma - as my wine course instructor way back in the day described "like gummy bears". This one was truly fruity and sweet on the nose, and has that jammy or cooked fruit smell that is typical for a zin. The taste however is always such a nice surprise for me - dry, medium to full bodied, and rich tasting on the palate, but smooth, not really tannic at all. It definitely does not taste like gummy bears - so much better!
We had this wine with some ribs with a sweet BBQ sauce, and the combination was nice and not overly sweet. I think it would be great with a variety of pork dishes. I think this wine will be getting me on a bit of a Zinfandel kick!
Elegance and Zinfandel aren't usually words that are in the same sentence, but here you are. A subtle Zinfandel that's almost not fruit forward. Smooth and supple. - Community Wine Reviews
