Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Celestiale 2017 is a beautifully balanced and smooooooth 38% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Malbec, 13% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot Bordeaux-style red wine blend from the Clos du Soleil Winery.

Fragrant with ripe cherry, raspberry, dark berry and cedar spice aromas, the wine is dry, elegant, medium-plus-bodied showing a subtle savouriness with ripe dark cherry, ripe red berry, blackberry flavours and a lingering flintiness on the palate. Well-crafted, structured with food-friendly acidity for a beef bavette from the grill or roast chicken.

Wine grapes for the 2017 vintage were sourced from Chopaka Ridge, Clos du Soleil Estate, Middle Bench and La Côte Vineyards in the Similkameen Valley, British Columbia. The final blend was aged 15 months in French oak barrels. Tasted December 2020.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
