A well constructed Bordeaux with a firm tannic grip. This baby needs some cellar time to come together. Aromas of cassis and black currant. Decant 2 hours and pair with rare steak.

Food pairings: risotto ala Milanese, three-meat stuffed cabbage rolls, baked beef brisket.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Tasted before it's time. The 2012 vintage needs more time to evolve and integrate. The fundamentals are present, with a solid backbone, firm tannins and packed with typicical flavours. Recommend another 5 years in the cellar, 2022-2032 drinking window. Tasted Jan 2017. Rated 91/100. Hope to see this wine again in a few years.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Cherry, plum skin, leather, herb, tobacco, and a hint of dried strawberry highlight this nicely balanced Bordeaux. Good stuff. 90 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Nice well balanced Bordeaux. Full tannic pull with a full fruit, red and black on the palette with a nice tobacco leather finish of medium length
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Classic St. Emilion style, with a very appropriate 12.5% alcohol. It isn't overripe and it can certainly stand to cellar for a good 5-7 years.
Nice pretty ruby red colouration.
Aromas of earth, mulch, toasted oak, plum, raspberry and bramble.
The flavours are juicy, ripe, and soft. There is a lot less spice than on the nose. The soft, gentle nature of it makes it a drink soon sort of Bordeaux.
Put this alongside a stuffed goose, woth plenty of poultry spice.
The main Capet estate is situated along Saint-Hippolyte, on the right bank of the Bordeaux Estuary. The soils are colder and are more suited to Merlot and Cabernet Franc, though the other Bordeaux varietals are used depending on the imagination of the vigneron.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Classic notes of cassis and berry, with some dark chocolate and a hint of mint. Firm tannin, lots of berry on the palate as well as an herbaceous note. Nice acidity, lingering finish. Be sure to decant this for a while (2+ hours), and could also age well for a few years to mellow out. Enjoy with a steak or hearty beef dish.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The nose is sort of muted with some berry, herb aroma. The wine has a rigid backbone and nice acid. Tannin is still firm..........will probably benefit from few hours of decanting. Good daily bordeaux from an OK vintage.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Cassis and dark berries, dried herbs, touch of smoke and bitter chocolate. Strong tannic pull, so let this one age a few years Extra-dry with tobacco on finish.
Tasted Jan. 2017
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Aromas of blackberry, earth and fresh herbs. This one needs a little more time in the cellar. Tasted January 15, 2017.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

This was a gift from my sister-in-law and I was eager to try it, perhaps before it was fully ready! Beautiful nose of aromas of cherry, smoke and earthiness. The taste hasn't yet caught up to the beautiful nose. Blackberry and strong, spicy tannins on the palette. Definitely decant for a few hours. Better yet, celler for a few more years and I'm sure this wine will come alive!

Château Tour de Capet (2012) is from France's Saint-Émilion Grand Cru (AOP). The winery is located at the southern end of Saint-Emilion's plateau. Grapes for this wine were cold macerated prior to fermentation and were vinified in heat-controlled tanks and macerated four to five weeks. The wine was then matured in both new and older French oak casks for one year. - Community Wine Reviews
