Classic Cabernet with blackberry and cassis, mocha-espresso aromas from the oak and very balanced. Full-bodied and smooth. This Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet also includes small amount of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Syrah in the blend. Pair with a pepper steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: lamb Bolognese, grilled New York strip loin, barbecued ribs in sauce, hard cheese, hearty meat dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine stood out to me as a real gem during our tasting of the Chateau Ste. Michelle lineup. Overall, quite refined and had a lot of depth to the flavour palate. Lots of red fruit on the nose, the palate is clean and bright. Lots of deep red fruit (currants, etc) comes through on the palate. Oak treatment is subtle and adds a nice softness, finish is quite lengthy.
The winemaker described this as a New World wine using Old World sensitivities. I think that says a lot for me. Enjoy with a beautiful steak.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is a very approachable Cabernet Sauvignon. Old world aromas of roses and mint but a nod to New World being a bit juicier, fruitier on the palate. Acid evident on the palate and tannins a bit grippy but all in a pleasant way. Medium to full-bodied and finish. Enjoyed it thoroughly with a flavorful steak. Tasted Jan 2017
This Washington State Cabernet is a rich ruby hue in the glass. Lots of minerality and racy acidity, with a long finish. The grapes are grown in the state's Columbia Valley. Winemaker Ray McKee offers superb craftsmanship in this robust and richly flavoured Washington red wine. This vibrant Cabernet Sauvignon hails from a strong vintage for the state, 2012. For the first time, McKee used a VitiSort optical sorter with grapes at harvest to remove debris that is not grapes. This a blend of fruit grown in the winery's Canoe Ridge Estate, Cold Creek and Indian Wells vineyards. - Community Wine Reviews
