Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Ripe fruit notes are settling down to allow graphite, pencil shavings, and dried rose petals to share the sensory spotlight. Deceiving tannins, gentle as they grasp the palate, strong and firm while they refuse to relinquish grip for a moment. Classic left bank recipe, 55/40/5 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Cabernet Franc. Aged beautifully to this point, built to last. Enjoy now through 2027+ with grilled, roasted, or braised red meat dishes.
Produced by Jean Gautreau, proprietor, Château Sociando-Mallet 2012 is a rich and medium-plus-bodied 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc red wine blend sourced from wine grapes north of St.-Estèphe's Château Montrose in the Haut-Médoc Wine Region. Lush with ripe blackberry, dark plum and crushed black raspberry, savoury herb and ripe tannins on the palate. Enjoy now with a filet mignon, but could hold in cellar easily for another 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
