Reviews and Ratings

Julia Kelada rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Usually I find Bordeaux very light on punch. It does have a character of course but I always love a wine that can pull out all the punches and surprise me! Château Picard actually managed to do that for me, so let me introduce you to my new little friend!

The region that this wine is grown in has a mixture of gravels, clay and sand, but it is the clay that influences the ability to produce robust wines that are capable of maturing slowly...hence the ability to surprise !

On the nose this wine gradually entices you with a woody barel note and lots of spice rounding off with a touch of fruit. On the palate it opens up with a slight mineral tone which opens up into a floral, violet note. The fruits are a combination of berries but predominantly blackberries. Then the surprise happens there is a punch of spice that then flows effortlessly into almost a brûlée note ending with delicious length tannins! Well done!

Bottoms up!

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
