Natalie's Score: 90/100

Château Peyros 2016 is produced from "Vielles Vignes" Tannat and Cabernet Franc grapes (%80/%20) from 30 year old vines from Southwest France. Rich, robust and powerful, this a pitch dark-red, full-bodied red wine blend produced by the Famille Lesgourgues. Smoky, with dark berry, cherry and dark fruits finishing spicy and savoury on the palate. Still quite youthful. Drink or hold. Decant for a couple of hours and pour with a big honkin steak!

Madiran food pairings: roast veal, wild boar tenderloin, venison stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Rich and bold. This is a powerhouse wine blended from Tannat and Cabernet Franc. Aromas of dark cherry, raisin, fresh earth, evergreen, and a hint of vanilla. Full bodied, dark and hefty, with bold, drying tannins even after decanting. Acidity is medium and fruit notes are rich trending towards dried. Hints of spice, evergreen, and sweet smoke on a lengthy finish. Accompany this with braised beef short ribs.
