Natalie's Score: 95/100

From the absolutely spectacular 2000 vintage, this Bordeaux is at its peak. It's a rare opportunity to buy mature Bordeaux at this price point. Gorgeous aromas of tanned leather, dried fruit, spice and smoke. This is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes, with smaller amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot. Pair with filet mignon and happiness.

Food pairings: braised short ribs, meaty soups or stews, grilled lamb chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Château Lanessan 2000 is a silky and elegant red wine blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes, with smaller amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot from the Haut-Médoc in the Bordeaux wine region. Produced by Delbos-Bouteiller, the Bouteiller family worked this land for eight generations. Since 2009, it has been maintained by Paz Espejo. This 2000 is ready to drink now with rich and intense flavours of dried cherries, blackberries, leather and spice. Tannins are well-integrated and this wine is so silky smooth. Drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
