Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Mainly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon in support. Toasty and smoky aromas before black cherry, blackcurrant, and plum appear. Big and robust tannins thanks to the CS component. Good acidity and body, nice and balanced. Fresh dark fruit and baking spice through the palate and finish. Best with cellaring. Drinks like a 90 now, will present a point or two better with five to ten years of age. Try with an herbed rack of lamb.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is a nicely integrated Right Bank Bordeaux blend. The palate is clean with dried raspberry and a medium plus finish. Tannins are still in play. Try it with charcuterie or firm cheeses. Tasted July 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Do not believe the notion that all Bordeaux are equally good for their price as a rule of thumb, as they vary in quality. But the Montagne-Saint-Émilion can be placed as a Bordeaux that is worth its weight! An everyday wine with pencil shaving notes that is quite low on tannins, complete with fresh red and black fruit. Simple yet good.
From the Montagne-Saint-Émilion wine region, Château La Picherie 2016 is a toothsome Cabernet Franc and Merlot red wine blend with rich and smooth dark plum, ripe raspberry, anise and underbrush flavours on the palate. Tannins are chewy and great there is also great acidity for food, but would benefit from three or more years in cellar. This vintage was awarded Gold at the 2018 Concours de Bordeaux. - Community Wine Reviews
