Natalie's Score: 94/100

From Pessac Léognan, Château La Garde 2015 is produced from sustainably-grown grapes and is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. Look for ripe blackberry, cassis, smoky, savoury herbs and spice concentrated, harmonious and smooth on the palate. The Château dates back to the 18th century, when Domaine de “Lagarde” was already featured on the “carte de Cassini” the first general map of France drawn by the Cassini family in 1756.

Food pairings: grilled venison loin, tenderloin pork Wellington, grilled lamb chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Lovely and bold Bordeaux blend, comprised of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot. On the nose there are aromas of blackberry, red cherry, cigar box, cedar, graphite, and a touch of eucalyptus. Full bodied, bold on the palate with bright acidity, dry, grippy tannins, and ripe and tart berry notes. Fruit is balanced with savoury hints and touches of smoke and spice on a lengthy finish. Enjoy with a classic prime rib roast. Lots of potential for this to age, even 10+ years.
