A straight-forward, robust, rustic red wine offering black cherry and raspberry aromas. Supple and tasty, with a firm grip on the palate. This wine is leaning toward the Rhone Valley in style and the blend here leads with the Syrah grape. Try this with meat lovers' pizza tonight.

Food pairings: meat lover's pizza, veal Parmesan, chicken Kiev.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This wine is calling out for a juicy, thick Montreal smoked meat sandwich on rye bread. Vinified from 40% Syrah, 30% Cab Franc and 30% Cab Sauv. Full bodied. Balanced. Integrating nicely. 13.5% ABV. Red fruit, savoury, minerality. Tasted 2014 vintage in Dec 2017. 88 points.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Extremely fresh and ripe Syrah from Lebanon - slowly being recognized as a perfect climate for viticulture. Expect to see more wines from this area in the future. This wine is an entry level example of the kind of approachability this region can deliver. It is very old world - structured and somewhat rustic in its spiciness.
The colour is a nice, deep purple, with ruby accents.
Aromas of wild sage, smoke, cherry, blackberry, currant, and a touch of mintiness.
The palate is saturated with black and red berries. Some plum and currant on the finish.
Good acid.
Straight-forward and deftly made. Put it alongside lambchops, mushroom soup, or borscht.
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Oct. 29th, 2017. Colour medium plus red. Good medium legs. Aromas and flavours of, black currant, sour cherry, smoke. Taste dry, 2 hrs open before drinking, medium plus body, mixed dark and red fruit. Heat on the palate, some mouthwatering. Finish a little odd. Overall tasted like an off Bordeaux blend gone wrong to me. Maybe it needed some Merlot. Not a bad wine just different. Unfortunately not a fan of this wine.
From the Bekaa Valley, Château Ksara Réserve Du Couvent (2014) is an uncomplicated, robust red with ripe black cherry and raspberry with good acidity on the palate. Tannins are soft and the red wine blend is 40% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Franc and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Ksara winery was established in the mid 1800s and is Lebanon's oldest winery.
