Rustic and robust, Château Joinin is a Merlot dominant, Cabernet Franc Bordeaux at a great price. Spicy with black fruit flavours. Tannins are considerable. Decant for two hour and pair with a well-marbled rib steak, or tame it in cellar for three more years.

Food pairings: rare roast beef, lamburgers, beef Bourguignon.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Great day to day wine from the Bordeaux region, Chateau Joinin 2016 offers aromas of red plum, raspberry, wet gravel, graphite, bay leaf baking spice and dark chocolate. Made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, Chateau Joinin delivers a full-bodied wine with a feel of acidity and tannins. Furthermore, Chateau Joinin is owned by the proprietors of Chateau Pipeau, a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. The know-how of such ownership is perfectly reflected in the quality of this wine. Flavors of plum, raspberry, leather, bay leaf, baking spice and cedar. Enjoy!
Château Joinin 2016 is a robust and rustic Merlot. Cabernet Franc Bordeaux with ripe black fruit and savoury notes, powerful, rich and with grippy tannins. Cellar for three more years (2022) to show its best. Needs a well-marbled grilled steak. - Community Wine Reviews
