Natalie's Score: 91/100

Intense with black fruit, blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry with toasty oak aromas on the nose. Juicy and concentrated with black currant, blackberry, plum, anise spice and toasty oak spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are structured and the wine could benefit from a few more years in cellar to marry and mellow.

Food pairings: roast beef, turkey, venison stew, roasted root vegetables.

Reviews and Ratings

From Castillon Côtes De Bordeaux wine region, Château Hyot Reserve 2015 is a full-bodied 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon red wine blend juicy with dark cherry, red currant, dark plum, anise and toasty oak spice flavours finishing long on the palate. Tannins are firm. Good now, better in 2022. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
