Pleasantly bitter black fruit and mouth-watering acidity. Full-bodied and juicy Bordeaux red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. Great for steak, especially at this price.

Food pairings: rare rib steak, stuffed pork tenderloin roast, gourmet burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Utterly delightful and approachable for 2014. Pretty cherry, damson plum, dried blackberry and currant notes along with flowers, chalk, grape must and clean wood notes. Lovey now but better in 2019-2020. 90 Points
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

From Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux, West of Saint-Emilion, come this Bordeaux AOC, Chateau Hyot 2014. Winner of multiple prizes, this wine is blended from 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. This Right Bank wine offers aromas of dark plum, dark cherry, fresh cut grass, pepper baking spice and cedar. Medium bodied with a mellow finish, Chateau Hyot shows nice balance for a young wine. In the mouth, dark skin plum, violet, fresh herbs, pepper and cedar are present. Easy-drinking for any occasion and affordable, Chateau Hyot will expose its terroir to any Bordeaux connoisseur. Enjoy.
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted June 24, 2018. Colour ruby red. Legs medium. Aromas and flavours of, black cherry, black currant, cedar, vanilla notes. Taste dry black and red fruit, full bodied, grippy grainy spicy tannin, mouthwatering minus. Finish long tea bag tannin on he finish. Ok, this wine is a good value wine. Worth the try if you are on a budget. We drank this wine with a rare Chateaubriand, baked russet potatoe and green beans. The meat and wine was a match.
Château Hyot 2014 is great value under $20 for a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot red wine blend from the Côtes De Bordeaux Castillon in Bordeaux. Bernadette Faure and Alain Aubert oversee vineyards, winemaking and marketing. This is a zesty flavoursome red with blackberry, black plum and savoury spice flavours on the palate. Enjoy with a grilled pork tenderloin tonight. - Community Wine Reviews
