A big, black (friendly) monster of a red wine from southern France. Black fruit and toasty oak with a tarry finish. Needs a big slab of steak beside it.

Malbec food pairings: breaded veal cutlets, duck breast with celeriac purée, pomegranate gastrique and Brussels sprout ragout, tagliatelle alla Bolognese, chicken herb-rubbed roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This dark and brooding red wine literally leaps from the glass. It's bold with luscious ripe red and black fruit, smoke, cedar, cellar floor, herbs. Tannins are firm and acidity is bold. Finer cuts of red meat please! This wine definitely has aging potential. At $18 why not buy 3 or 4 and cellar?
Tasted: January 2015
