Love the sour black cherry on the nose and palate of this full-bodied French red wine. Deep concentration and ripeness here. Very smooth on the palate: great right out of the gate. That sourness is on the finish, and a bit reduced, but again in a pleasant way like cooked black fruit with dark spices.

Reviews and Ratings

Château D'anglès 2012 vintage of the robust, deep red French wine, La Clape Classique is a blend of 55% Mourvèdre, 30% Syrah, 10% Grenache and 5% Carignan. The vineyard is managed within the sustainable practices of the ASCERT Charter for respect of the environment and wine. Grapes are grown in the hard limestone soils of the mountain of La Clape and are treated to a temperate Mediterranean climate and cooler nights from onshore breezes which allow wine grapes to slowly and evenly ripen. La Clape Classique is deep cherry on the palate with a liquorice and bitter cherry finish. The wine is produced by Eric Fabre of the Famille E. Fabre who was also the former winemaker at Chateau Lafite Rothschild. - Community Wine Reviews
