Natalie's Score: 89/100

Lots of attractive toasty oak and smoke on the nose of this robust, rustic red wine. This Cabernet blend from Bordeaux is well-priced. It gets a bit thinner on the palate than the nose would lead you to believe but is nonetheless good value.

Food pairings: hearty meat dishes, barbecued chicken, char-grilled lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Smooth and elegant Medoc, Bordeaux blend. 60/40 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Medaille D'Or Paris 2012. Inviting aromas of baked cherry, cassis, raspberry, sweet spices and some floral(violets?). The palate is clean with toasted oak and dark fruit.Length is long and silky. Tannins are polishing and the acidity is refreshing. Enjoy now or over 5-7 years. Red meat please! Worth buying two to see how they reward you in a few years.
Tasted: January 2015
Viticulture dates back to the 14th century at Chateau Blaignan. The vineyard is located in the northern part of the Medoc region of Bordeaux and is planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and 40% Merlot. - Community Wine Reviews
