Reviews and Ratings

Alana L rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

About last night... great friends, amazing food and a fantastic selection of wines, kicked off with Chartogne-Taillet Champagne on our arrival. When you find a Champagne that retails for $55 CAD and yet has been rated 92 by Wine Spectator, 91 by Wine Advocate and 93 by James Suckling you know that you have a ‘return to frequently’ pick on your hands, or as we would say in French a ‘valeur sûre’! Advocates for respecting the terroir and growing their vines respecting the precepts of biodynamics, they make their wine one parcel at a time to preserve its unique character. Farmed organically, this current cuvée Sainte-Anne made with equal parts of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, involves three different vintages. Robert Parker aptly describes this entry-level grower Champagne from the Montagne de Reims region as a sensational value.

Expressive, dry yet with a nice level of freshness, there are crisp notes of citrus, light fruit, bread and a slight nuttiness with a very soft hint of ocean or sea spray salt notes as the wine warms slightly. To the taste it balances crisp freshness and mouthfeel, apple, spice and toastiness and a defined oxidative leaning.

Absolutely perfect with fresh Village Bay oysters from New Brunswick with a splash of lemon juice and a simple mignonette.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
