Campfire smoky, robust and luscious with golden apple on the palate. Long finish. Toasty from generous oak aging. This robust Californian Chardonnay would be perfect with grilled chicken or seafood. Great summer white wine by the barbecue.

Chardonnay food pairings: shellfish, seafood, chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Attractive white flower blossom, vanilla sugar, and stone fruit notes. The palate is flavourful (follows the nose) with a buttery mouthfeel and balanced by juicy acidity. Enjoy this flavourful full-bodied Chardonnay with seafood cakes. Tasted March 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Mild apple & tropical aromas with tropical notes, vanilla and oak on a medium-bodied palate with slight caramel on finish.

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The winemaker describes this wine as a wine with "power and finesse." Without being too contentious, I would describe it as "new world with subtlety."
The wine goes through a barrel selection process that makes each vintage different and special, but generally the wines utilized with wild and inoculated yeasts in new (1/3) and used oak (2/3). The grapes are sourced from ungrafted vines from half a dozen unique geologies across the Columbia Valley.... Not bad for 15 bucks, huh?
Usually full malolactic Chardonnay's from hot climates can have an oxidized colour. This one is a very pale luminous white gold.
Generous and soft on the nose. Lot's of anjou pear and yellow apple. Brown butter and leesy baked bread.
Soft flavours to the palate. Not intense, but pleasing. Tasty baked apple, brown spices, baked bread, and a lemoncake twist on the finish.
Washington State has some of the most challenging viticultural realities a winemaker can face (aside from disease pressure, which is very low). Drought, extreme heat in the day, and extreme cold at night. Like people, vines that are challenged produce something more special. That is why people should be paying attention to this area and what they are doing.
