Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A perfumed dark fruit nose leads to an intensely flavoured palate giving ripe cassis, strawberry, herbal and dark chocolate notes. Satiny and superbly balanced, good to the last drop. Pair with Oso Buco, or rack of lamb. Memorable!
Tasted Jan. 2019
Produced by the Wagner Family, this is the half-bottle of this amazingly tasty Cabernet Sauvignon from Caymus (2016) with a crushed blue and blackberry fruit, spicy, chocolatey nose and palate. The wine was matured in French oak barrel for 18 months. The Wagner Family started farming 1940s, with the late Charlie Wagner farming wheat and fruit trees on the Rutherford property. When wine legend Andre Tchelistcheff commented on the superb quality of Wagner's winemaking grapes for homemade wine did Charlie begin to look at farming grapes for making wine. Most of the 73-acre property was replanted in Cabernet Sauvignon wine grapes. Charlie, wife Lorna and son Chuck officially founded Caymus in 1972 with Chuck taking over as winemaker in 1984. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
