Reviews and Ratings

Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A refined, high-end, world-class Riesling with notes of honey combined with minerality, freshness, and a medium-bodied mouth feel, this off-dry wine is very appealing, with complexity and excellent length. It’s rich with passion fruit and granny Smith apple notes combined with freshly squeezed lime sharpness on the finish. One of the better Rieslings I’ve tried; spectacular!
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Stunning body and persistence. The Brand grand cru has a reputation for body and early drinkability, though thos will age effortlessly for 5-7 years. It matures faster than other grand crus because it needs some of its Riesling youthful vitality to contrast the heavy apice character it often has. Turckheim is one of only two large commercial wineries operating in this area.
Pretty hay-yellow colour.
Aromas of almond, citrus zest, nectarine, lemon curd, honeysuckle, and ginger.
Very satisfying and rich. It is super dry (<5 grams of sugar per litre) and actually benefitted from some time to breathe and open up.
Flavourwise, theres some papaya, ginger, quince, cinnamon, wine gums, citrus, and pear.
The Brand area is planted to mostly Riesling and Gewurztraminer, with a little Pinot Gris and Muscat here and there. This is a big, dry Riesling that will win you over quickly. Put this with Munster cheese, or maybe some bratwurst and choucroute (Alsatian sauerkraut).
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A mineral Riesling with aromas of peach, apricots, orange blossom and honey. Although a dry wine, some of the honey qualities comes through on the palate, as well as crisp lemon tartness, citrus flavours and a touch of almond at the finish.

Would pair well with a creamy cheese like a Brie or Camembert, or with roasted pork.

Tasted November 2017
Cave De Turckheim Brand (2013) is a Grand Cru Riesling from the Alsace wine region. This medium-bodied Riesling is dry with concentrated tropical fruit, zesty citrus and vibrant acidity. Pair with mild vegetarian curries, Asian fusion dishes. - Community Wine Reviews
