Natalie's Score: 93/100

A rich, luxurious Chilean Pinot Noir with aromas of dark plum and spice. The 2013 vintage was the coldest one on record for the Casablanca region in 120 years. Contrary to what you might expect, the alcohol level in this wine is 14.7%, usually the result of a warm vintage. However, in cool vintages, Grant Phelps, the winemaker, waits for full physiological ripening in the grapes and as a result, grape sugars build with longer hang time and convert at higher levels of alcohol. That said, this wine has great freshness and there's not a hint of alcoholic warmth. Pair with grilled lamb.

Pinot Noir food pairings: truffle risotto, planked salmon.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

An elegant dry Pinot Noir with a pefumed nose of ripe cherries, earth and milk chocolate. The flavourful palate gives ripe red cherries, forest floor and spicy mocha.
Remember this one for your Thanksgiving turkey or roast goose.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

From a cold vintage, and vines between 12-17 years old. This Pinot shows a nice refinement, light to medium bodied, with notes of strawberry and cherry, with undertones of pepper and warm earth. There is also a slightly floral or perfumed note. On the palate, there is some nice, balanced acidity, light tannin, and a medium+ finish. Try this with mushroom dishes or charcuterie.
