Natalie's Score: 91/100

Dusty, savoury, classic Italian red wine with aromas of lovely tart black cherries, cedar smoke, violets. Nicely integrated nuances of oak and vanillin. This robust red has a good grip on the palate so decant for 1-2 hours then enjoy with prime rib.

Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano food pairings: beef.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This wine is bright ruby red, 13.5% ABV with typicity. rRuby red with garnet rim. Deeply concentrated red fruit, anise, red cherry and mint. Full-bodied, juicy, well-balanced, integrated and great complexity. Pairs well with game, braised red meats, BBQ Angus AAA steak. Fantastic value. 92 points. #BespokeTastings
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Rich notes of cherry and tobacco notes with some vanilla and earthy flavors over the medium tannins. Well bodied and balanced. Tasted November 2017
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Tasted in 2020. Still showing lots of life, aromas include dried, jammy berry, dusty tobacco, black tea, smoke and cedar. Full bodied, with dry tannins , and medium acidity on the palate. Fruit flavours are dried with some brightness remaining. Other flavours include black tea, violets, and warm tobacco with a smoky finish. Enjoy with braised meat or lentil dishes.
Made from 90% estate grown, dry farmed Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese Grosso) grapes and 10% Canaiolo Nero grapes. This wine is aged more than 2 years in oak barrels then the wine is bottle aged for at least another year before being released from the winery. Pair with wild boar and game meats. Aromas of cedar brush, smoke, black fruit. - Community Wine Reviews
