Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Dark fruit, herbs, spice, and blueberry muffins. An impressive and easy going wine. Enjoy now or cellar 10+ years. Tasted the magnum format, March 2015. 91 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Cakebread Cellars in a 1500 ml format. Does it get any better? Silky, full-bodied, some evident tannins, balanced acidity with an abundance of ripe dark fruit. Cassis, blueberry, black cherry, plum with charred oak and cloves. The palate lends a sour cherry note with some earthiness. A very good length on a cherry finish. Finer cuts of beef, roasted lamb shank or dark chocolate squares would pair nicely. Suggest decanting. This red wine has potential to age 10 + years.
Tasted: March 2015
This family-owned Californian winery has been making wine in Napa Valley since 1973. This wine was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. This is the magnum sized bottle, the equivalent of two regular (750 ml) bottles. - Community Wine Reviews
