Burrowing Owl marked their 25th anniversary in 2018. Their 2015 Meritage is produced from the five principal Bordeaux grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Lovely, dry and full-bodied red with blueberry preserves, earthy violets sweet cake spice, cinnamon and soft vanilla flavours on the palate. Tannins are present but well integrated. Finishes long, balanced. Drink now and for the next five years.

Food pairings: slow roasted duck, roast beef, tourtière.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Rich, aromatic, balanced and supple. A very impressive Meritage that adds Malbec and Petit Verdot to the usual Meritage blend. Raspberries, plum, herbal, vegetal and sweet spice elements balanced in a velvety mouthfeel. A great wine gift that showcases the Okanagan Valley winemaking skill of Burrowing Owl Estate Winery. Enjoy with roast red meats, venison or duck. Try this and feel very proud of the quality of Canadian winemaking.

Great Balance on Burrowing Owl's 2015 Meritage red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Dry, full-bodied, elegant and rich dark fruit, plum, cassis, sage, charcoal grilled beef, and cedar. Burrowing Owl marked their 25th anniversary in 2018. - Community Wine Reviews
