Full-bodied, chalky and dry with black fruit and smoke on the nose of this Australian red wine made from Shiraz grapes. Pair with hearty meat dishes. This wine was aged for 21 months in American oak barrels (85%) and small French barriques. Pair with gourmet hamburgers.

Shiraz food pairings: lamb cutlets with pepperade and goat cheese, hamburgers, pizza, espresso and cocoa-rubbed flank steak with sautéed wild mushrooms and cherries in balsamic reduction.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A South Australia Shiraz with an aromatic cassis and vanilla nose. The juicy palate repeats with red plums, more subdued spice than usual in a shiraz and slight pepper. Smooth, harmonious mouthfeel and a long spicy fruit finish.
The grapes for this robust Australian red wine were harvested at 14.5 baume in early March from the Nine Gums Vineyard on Almond Grove Road at Willunga. Polished tannins with a profusion of anise, mocha and black pepper. This wine was aged for 21 months in American and French oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
