Root beer and mocha on the nose of this full-bodied, generous red wine made from Garnacha grapes harvested from hillside vineyards 3,000 feet above sea level. Finishes with black raspberry liqueur. Perfect for grilled pork chops or blackened chicken. This full-bodied Spanish red wine is made from the estate's oldest vines which are 100% Garnacha vines planted from 1925 and 1945. The soils are a mix of decomposed slate and gravelly clay. Yields are very low at just less than one ton of grapes per acre. The wine was then matured in large French oak casks. Winemaker Jorge Ordonez offers superb craftsmanship. Pair with grilled meats.

Grenache food pairings: pork chops, blackened chicken, rib eye steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Luc Delorme rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A deep purple wine with up-front dark cherry and black pepper on the nose. Dark cherries remain on the palate with flavours of cooked plums. Full-bodied with high tannins, this wine is well-balanced by the sweetness of the alcohol and its acidity that fills the mouth. Long finish that brings back the aromas of dark cherry and pepper first experienced on the nose. Despite the high alcohol content, the wine is not overpowering or "boozy". Terrific bold wine.
