Natalie's Score: 88/100

Full-bodied, smooth and juicy with haunting aromas of rose petal and dried red fruits. Lots of acidity for food. Earthy and dry. Classic Old World style, not fruit-forward. Some dark spices on the finish makes it ideal for hearty meat dishes. This has the signature of Xinomavro, the leading red grape in modern Greek wines, with cedar and black olive notes. Loads of mouth-watering acidity for lamb. Excellent for the price.

Xinomavro food pairings: lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A surprising, flavourful wine. Aromas of dark ripe fruit, spice and anise that get more pronounced as the wine opens up. Full bodied, medium tannins. Tart cherry and anise carries through on the palate, along with a hint of a briny ripe olive. Delicious, flavourful, and a great value wine.
Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows:

A wine with deep red colour, with the typical aromatic character of Xinomavro, cedar, olive, tomato juice, spices and mint. In mouth it is balanced full-bodied withgood acidity and sweet flavor of vanilla, cocoa, berry surrounded by the oak barrel.

The 2009 vintage of this robust Greek red wine, Naoussa, gets about 1 year aging in French oak barrels. The Chief Oenologist Yiannis Voyatzis has a deft hand on this wine. - Community Wine Reviews
