Almost zinfandel-like in its fleshy purple plum and berry notes. Full-bodied with good acidity for pizza. This robust red is made from grapes grown on the winery's own estate vineyards.

Reviews and Ratings

Martha Kelly AIWS - CS rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Deep purple in colour, made from a blend of Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz grapes, this full-bodied wine has flavours of black currants, black cherry, raisin, black pepper, and vanilla, over layers of earthy notes. The rich complexity of the wine lingers on the velvety, warming finish.
Pair with Braised meats, stews, lamb, game, and charcuterie.
Date tasted: April 2014.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A lovely expression of the Portuguese grape Touriga Nacional blended with Tinta Roriz.(Tempranillo). Still showing youthful deep purple colour in the glass. Aromas tell a more developing story. Raspberry, strawberry, cassis, cherry, violet, cedar, toast, black earth, and tobacco leaf. Full bodied in the mouth with flavours leading to dried red fruit, sour cherry, cloves, leather, wet leaves, tobacco, vanilla. Velvet tannins. Long length on a smooth warming finish.
This developing wine is lovely now and should be enjoyed over the next 3 yrs.
Pair with BBQ meats, game, charcuterie
