Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Stunning wine. Everything is in balance here. It features aromas and flavours of blackberry liqueur, black currants, herb, meat blood, dried flowers, and fresh bouquet garni. Lots going on. Decant one hour. 91 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Opened the bottle with a pop on December 15th 2016. The colour ruby red. Tilt the glass and observe the tick slow running drops return to meet the wine in the glass. Put my nose into the glass and breathed in an aroma of spiced wood. Gave the glass a swirl and black cherry, Christmas cake and port aromas started appearing. First sip noticed the tannin, cherry and long finish. Cotton mouth and a slight tingle in the upper lip. This is what I call a big wine still has time to get better. Needs some food with it. Grilled steak, Spanish Authentic Paella, and hard cheese. If you like the big bold taste of wine this is for you. 14.5 % contains Merlot, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah. All the big guns blended into one powerful wine.
The 2010 vintage of this full-bodied Spanish red wine from Baron de Magaña is a blend of 35% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Tempranillo and 10% Syrah grapes all sourced from a vineyard planted in 1970. The wine is then matured for 14 months in 70% new and 30% old French oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews
