Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Bodega Garzon has been doing some great things with Tannat of late, even having their 2015 Tannat Reserve make Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines in 2017. This 80% Cab Franc/20% Tannat has dusty rose on the nose with wet stones; vibrant red currant on the palate and soft, grainy tannins. Good structure and balance. Medium bodied and very approachable. There is a lot going on in this glass! Pair with cassoulet or duck confit. Good value. Tasted February 2020. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Uruguay promotes this "national grape" Tannat in this medium-bodied blend with 80% Cabernet Franc. Subdued dark plums and pepper aromas lead to a black fruity palate. Light to medium tannins and well-balanced, it ends with a cool, herbal finish. Pair with lamb or beef. Wine Enthusiast rated this winery in 2018 as the New World Winery of the Year.
Garzón Estate 2017 is a full-bodied, unoaked 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Tannat red wine blend, fresh and fruit with crushed raspberry, ripe black berry, black currant, dried wild herbs and minty flavours fresh on the palate. Tannins are structured. Beautiful now and for the next three years. Pair with bison burgers and tourtière. - Community Wine Reviews
