Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Love Black Market Wine Company’s inaugural release of their single-vineyard 100% Merlot (2022 produced from grapes sourced from the Zoetermeer Vineyard in Kaleden, British Columbia. Dark ruby in the glass, the wine is rich on the nose with pronounced aromas of smoky vanilla followed by notions of ripe red cherry and dark plum. So, after fully decanting this youthful Merlot and leaving it to breathe for about 30 minutes, the wine became more savoury with ripe red cherry, dark plum fruit, bay leaf, along with cedar brush spice, mocha and vanilla aromas and flavours on the palate. Dry, medium-bodied, lifted and silky smooth, the wine is in total harmony and a pleasure to drink now on its own or with roast Cornish game hens, beef brisket or a mushroom risotto. Tannins are also silky and long on the finish. The wine was aged for 21 months in second fill and neutral French oak barrels. Drink or hold to 2028. Tasted November 2024.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
