Some would say that Kanzemer Altenberg vineyard is not on a mountain, but on a cliff. The sun shines and warms the barren slate soils of this vineyard keeping the heat in those slatey soils and giving these Riesling grapes optimal opportunity to ripen. In addition to a great southern exposure, the vineyards are also protected from the cool winds with the Saar River moderating temperatures in the vineyards. The 2020 Saar Riesling Kabinett Feinherb Kanzemer Altenberg is softly sweet, medium-bodied, mouth-watering and simply gorgeous. Crisp and clean with pure apple, pear, soft citrus zest and slatey mineral flavours silky and long on the palate and a delight at 10% abv. Good now, better when the wine has had some time to evolve into its own personality. Try in 2027 or cellar for 20 or so years.

Riesling Kabinett food pairings: Korean BBQ ribs, sushi, sashimi, pad Thai.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
