Natalie's Score: 90/100

Bieler's Born To Run 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is rich on the nose with ripe plum, blueberry, cassis and spicy aromas; juicy on the palate with ripe dark berry, plum, dried sweet tobacco leaf and baking spice flavours balanced with brilliant food-friendly acidity. Tannins are grippy. Decant up to two hours prior to pouring it with steaks from the grill.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: meat loaf, meat and rice stuffed peppers, bison burgers, roast partridge.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The 2018 Born to Run is a present for fans of concentrated, American Cabernet Sauvignons who prefer their wine to be big but not BIG.

In my glass, aromas reminiscent of ripe dark fruit and plums, cassis, and herbs mingle nicely with an appealing blend of juicy, concentrated flavours like dark berries and plums teamed up with dried spices.

Crafted with grapes grown in both California and Washington State, this Cabernet Sauvignon has a mouth feel that I describe as full bodied yet lean, downright dry, velvety, ample food friendly acidity, and grippy from a tannin perspective. For me, this mouthfeel experience is a ready partner for BBQ so I’m going to make that happen.
