This robust Californian red wine blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon along with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Syrah and a splash of Petit Verdot is greater than the sum of its parts, thus the name Quantum. When tiny quantum units combine they create systems of tremendous value and complexity, according to the back label. Mocha and dark chocolate from oak aging then step back to reveal dark fruit, violets, anise and spice on the palate. This wine needs serious cellar time then decanting before you enjoy it with hearty meat dishes.

Food pairings: pork sausage casserole, roast chicken, grilled rib eye steak.

Reviews and Ratings

This robust Californian red wine is a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec and a splash of Petit Verdot wine grapes all sourced from Howell Mountain and area. Beringer Quantum (2014) is truly a harmonious sum of its varietal parts. Look for rich and ripe dark fruit mid-palate with dark chocolate and a lingering spice finish. The wine was aged in 50% new oak for almost two years. Tannins are quite firm and the wine could cellar for about five years to mellow out. - Community Wine Reviews
