This heavy-hitter needs more cellar time, but the wait will be well worth your while. Magnificently structured and balanced, with layers of black fruit, dark spice and and smoke. Pair with celebrations of any kind.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

I am smitten with this wine. The balance of ripe fruit characters, earthy notes and acidity is just perfection. Key aromas and flavours include: cassis, black plum, vanilla, a little minerality (from graphite and chalky characters), and a touch of dried herb earthiness. Full bodied, smooth tannins, nicely integrated acidity with a long elegant finish.
Pair wise.... hmmm. This is what I would describe as "meditation wine". It's a meal in a glass, so I just sip, consume and reflect.
Nick Onischuk - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

The Beringer Knights Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 is definitely a crowd pleaser! This wine has beautiful aromas and flavours of blackberry, black cherry, and spice. A full bodied wine that would pair perfectly with a nice steak. If you haven’t tried this one yet – you must! (Score: 93, Nicholas Onischuk, tasted April 14, 2015)
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Laurie Hook, Beringer's winemaker for over 30 years, believes that there are a few exceptional blocks within Knight's Valley where the grapes used in their Cab Sauv deserve a reserve bottling, because they reflect the truest expression of the terroir in the valley. The Knight's Valley Reserve is an elegant Cab with layers of dark blackberry, black currant, licorice and mocha, full-bodied and lush with firm tannins. A ripe dark berry finish completes the savoury experience of this glorious wine.

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Big and beautiful, with blackberry, black cherry, India ink, backing spices and a little candied cherry in the nose. The taste is even across the whole palate with the black cherry combining nicely with some serious ripe tannins that will get rounder with age. The acidity is on the high side of medium, the mouth-feel is lush but tannic, and the finish is tannic black cherry. As one would expect, an exceptional wine for a rare steak.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The Beringer Knights Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012 vintage showed ruby red and aromatic. Beringer's Knights Valley vineyards are located in the Northeastern corner of Sonoma Valley with predominantly sedimentary stones yielding well-drained soils which express minerality through a dense and concentrated dark berry fruit and a promising tannic experience. Full-bodied, medium acidity, dense tannins, the wine is ideal for food. Although the same Cabernet Sauvignon DNA, the Beringer Knights Valley fruit produced a wonderful and unique expression of Sonoma terroir lingering with a long finish and persistence of black berry, blueberry, leather and baking spice. Recommend braised or grilled red meat and root vegetables. Enjoy 2015-2030.
