Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Benjamin Bridge has been making a real fizz in the sparkling wine scene over the past decade. This Nova Scotia (Canada) based winery is producing sparkling wines that rival those from Champagne and other storied wine regions around the world. A combination of ideal terroir for producing crisp & complex cool climate grapes, along with creative winemaking expertise, has resulted in world-class sparkling wines, unlike no others, each and every vintage.

There's a tendency to compare Nova 7 to Italy's Moscato d'Asti, given its gentle effervescence and off-dry low alcohol style, but I must say Nova 7 is in a league of its own. Crisper, perfectly balanced, more complex, and loaded with refreshing minerality, Nova 7 is unlike no others, and many Canadians have caught on to this. Nova 7 is becoming Canada's favourite wine.

In its tenth vintage now, the 2016 shows a very faint rose gold colour with the characteristic aromas of sweet honey suckle, marigold blossoms, asian pear, and fresh stone fruit. Very lightly effervescent, the mid-palate shows creamy and sweet orchard fruit and fresh ginger, all backed with crisp and refreshing acidity on the long finish. Beautifully balanced, this off-dry wine is loaded with refreshing minerality making it a great choice for east coast seafood appetizers, sushi, tart berry desserts, or simply to enjoy on its own. Benjamin Bridge wines continue to be some of the most interesting I've tasted vintage after vintage and the 2016 Nova 7, in its 10th year, is another great example of the world-class wines winemaker Jean-Benoit Deslauriers is producing year after year. Tasted April 2017. 94 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
PS: Pour some Nova 7 as you celebrate Canada 150 in 2017...could there be a more Canadian thing to do?
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Sparkling with a salmon hue, teaming with aromas of strawberries, lychee and honeysuckle. It is effervescent with nice crisp acidity and light bodied with strawberry flavours leading into a nice lingering finish. This is a perfect summer sipping wine and can also be enjoyed with light creamy cheese, seafood and green salads. Treat yourself and have a bottle ready this summer. (Tasted on March 26, 2017)
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Now celebrating their 10th anniversary and a hit with everyone who tries it. Pretty honeysuckle and peach aromas, with rose, orange and lychee notes added on palate and signature salinity. Silky texture with a gentle spritz and crisp finish. Makes a wonderful accompaniment to lobster chowder or steamed clams.

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A masterpiece of blended aromatic varietals showcasing pronounced lychee, stewed apricot, citrus blossom and mild honeyed aromas. Flavours are fruit forward, juicy and persistent. Enjoy this is racy, flavourful, aromatic white blend with spicy shrimp vermicelli. Tasted Sept 2017 by @sommsosa
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Love the colour on this sparkling from the Bay of Fundy! While not marketed as a rose it looked markedly like one from Provence I recently tasted. Beautiful aromas of fresh strawberry, watermelon and roses. Red apple flavours with plenty of acidity to counter the 76 g/l of sugar. This is a deck sipper, chilled with a plate of chocolate dipped strawberries! Tasted March 26, 2017
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A classic Canadian wine from Benjamin Bridge. This wine is designed to please. Off-dry, great acidity, well balanced fruit and complexity. Aromatics of ripe strawberry, orange blossom, minerality, with a hint of fresh fleshy apricot. 7% ABV. Enjoyable before, with or after food. Jean-Benoit Deslauriers has redefined diversity With this wonderful wine. Beautiful on the eyes, nose and palate and affordable on the wallet. Enjoy this salmon pink, lightly sparkling with loved ones. Tasted March 2017. 91 points.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Always a lovely sipper, and at low alcohol you can drink a couple bottles and skip the self-loathing. Flowery aromatics, citrus, ripe stone fruit. I'm 90 on this. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Pretty bouquet on the nose, pink roses, orchard tree fruit - peach, orange. The palate is delicate, with flavors of peach, apple, the beautiful mouthfeel and great acidity.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Quite a quaffable fizz - chill well and sip on a hot day. No need to watch the bottle, this clocks in at 6.5% alcohol. Rose-hued and scented with candied violet, pink grapefruit, red delicious apple and a touch of spearmint. Fun stuff!
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This is fruity and fun but not super sweet. Even though it has 76g/L of sugar, the biting acidity balances it quite well. Pale salmon in colour. Fruit salad aromas, peach apricot, pineapple, papaya, mango - really all kinds of tropical fruit, orange blossoms and honeyed ginger. On the palate there is some flavour of canned mandarins, green mango, pineapple, honey and ginger. Medium body and finish. Smooth, crisp and refreshing. Low alcohol, it is a great breakfast wine! Yes, I said it. Pair with orange juice for a magical mimosa. 88 points
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Canada Day, July 1, 2018. Colour rose gold and brilliant. Bubbles of light effervescent. Aromas and flavours of peach mango, Asian pear, apricot, orange blossom, floral notes, very complex. Taste off dry, light body, mouthwatering plus, low alcohol and a long complex fruit and floral finish. Made with Muscat grape varieties. This wine is a Canadian gem and should be tried. Special occasion wine at $27 but the production costs are high. Uses organic yeast and very little interference from the wine maker the wine reflects the land of Nova Scotia. I paired the wine with arugula and mint salad, oil, balsamic, pepper dressing, topped with cold ripe watermelon and crumbled feta. It was a great match.
Benjamin Bridge, Nova 7 (2016) is made in the Charmat or tank method. This is a pretty rose gold, medium sweet sparkler with strawberry, honeysuckle and peach aromas, soft orange nad lychee notes on the palate finishing with a clean minerality. Nice and silky textured with a gentle spritz and crisp finish. Pair it with seafood appetizers, sushi, or enjoy it on its own. - Community Wine Reviews
