Reviews and Ratings

Nicole Lewis rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Beautiful, clear garnet in the glass with fading rim, this dry red offers up aromas of ripe cherries, cinnamon, and cigar box. It is medium bodied with a lovely balance of ripe cherry fruit, oak, and delightfully food friendly acidity. This wine has a moderate finish.

Pair with thin crust basil-bocconcini pizza.
James Belardo rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

In the shadow of the Sicilian Nero D’Avola grape lies it’s lesser known sibling, the Narello Mascaliese grape (AKA the Calabrese grape). It's much lighter in color and a nice 'ruby Red' compared to the intense purple of the Nero D'Avola. Take note that the lighter in color doesn't mean it's light on flavor as it's remarkably deceptive. The Narello Mascalese does need a bit of time to open up so let iy breath.

Robert Janiga rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Bought this on sale for $13.75 at the LCBO. I am new to this varietal and I like it. Displays a lovely, light cranberry hue with medium-thick legs that slide down the glass with a slight pace.

Bright fruits on the nose like cranberry and raspberry, with some dried flowers, and hints of cigar. On the palate is similar to the nose with a lively acidity.

This wine would pair nicely with grilled fish and tomato-based pasta dishes.
