Lealtanza Reserva 2012 is a medium-full bodied Rioja red Tempranillo with crushed raspberry, smoky and spice aromas. On the palate, look for dried and ripe red fruits, cake spices, savoury notes wrapped up in soft smoke.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

An elegant example of a classic medium-bodied Rioja. 100% Tempranillo, aged in French oak over 18 mos. Fragrant, supple and balanced, it shows notes of cherry, raspberry, leather, oak, mocha , vanilla and a touch of anise. Soft tannins and good acidity make it versatile with food, from tuna empanada, to olives to lamb chops. Lingering tart cherry finish. Vegan friendly.
This beauty won Platinum at the Asia Wine Awards 2018. Definitely a wine to buy again!

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromas of ripe raspberry, leather, warm spice and smoke. Full bodied and bright acidity on the palate with a smoky finish. Enjoy with smoky cheeses and charcuterie.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Lealtanza Reserva 2012 presents a typical 100% Tempranillo wine from the Rioja region. This Spanish wine reveals lovely aromas of blackcurrant, strawberry, hay, caramel, pepper, leather and oak. Full bodied, with a long finish, this Spaniard will satisfy the amateur of Rioja wine, with notes of strawberry, tobacco, dark chocolate, pepper and spice with a hint of oak. On its own or with food, Lealtanza Reserva will deliver all of its Tempranillo warmth. Enjoy.
Lealtanza Reserva 2012 is a medium-full bodied Rioja red Tempranillo with crushed raspberry, smoky and spice aromas. On the palate, look for ripe red fruits, cake spices, savoury notes wrapped up in soft smoke. The wine is supple and rich on the palate with soft drying tannins and just enough acidity to be food friendly. Very versatile, try it with a vegetarian chilli, lamb stew or tourtière. - Community Wine Reviews
