Produced by Alejandro Fernández of Pesquera, this is a big, bold and juicy red with a ripe blackberry and smoky nose. More ripe blackberry compote, licorice spice on the palate finishing with earthy, smoky notes. The Tempranillo wine grapes for this robust red are sourced from the Castilla y León wine region.

Food pairings: herbed steaks, chili, Papas con chorizo, lamb chops, smoked cheese, pan-seared venison.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A vibrant and deep wine, the Dehesa La Granja 2011, made from 100% Tempranillo, offers aromas of strawberry sauce, fig, mustard seed, parmesan cheese, cigar box, wood burner and oak. Harvested in the Castilla y Leon region of Spain, this Spaniard reveals a full body with a long and fruity finish. Its structure shows great quality, making this wine a perfect after-dinner sipper. Palate, sour cherry, raisin, black pepper, dried leaves, pastrami, cinnamon and oak. Enjoy!
From the Castilla Y León, winemaker, Alejandro Fernández' Dehesa La Granja 2011 is smoky and toasty on the nose with layers of rich dark fruit, dark chocolate licorice, savoury spice and toasty flavours on the palate. This is a full-bodied and dry Tempranillo red wine with good acidity for food. Pair with meat kebabs. - Community Wine Reviews
