Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

From the lovely region of Jumilla in Spain comes the captivating Premium 50 Barricas, a 2016 Syrah from the Alceño Bodegas winery. This wine reveals delicious aromas of blackberry jam, fruitcake, cured meat, licorice, espresso and cigar box. Made from 85% Syrah and 15% Monastrell, this full-bodied wine shows well-knit tannins and a warm finish, providing a lovely coating throughout the journey in the palate. Flavors: black cherry, blackberry jam, leather, lavender, vanilla and sweet tobacco. Enjoy!
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Syrah with 15% Monastrell. A dark coloured and pretty wine showing black pepper, smoke, tar, blackberry, plum, and black cherry aromas. Jammy flavours, almost sweet, with cherry, plum, and other black fruits. The six months spent in American and French oak contribute some sweet vanilla and baking spice. Good tannins and acidity to balance the sweet fruit notes and full body of 14.5% ABV. This big red packs good value, and is well suited to grilled steaks and burgers.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This 85 % Syrah/15% Monastrell is an interesting blend, Monastrell lending weight to the Syrah. Dark cherries on the palate with a touch of earthiness. Medium finish. Overall a very pleasant uncomplicated pour. Try it with burgers or kebabs. Tasted June 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
