Reviews and Ratings

Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Pale straw in colour with aromas of lime, grapefruit, honeysuckle and pear. It is light bodied with mouthwatering acidity and has flavours of lime and white grapefruit. Seafood is always the classic pairing with Albariño and this one is no exception. Tasted on September 16, 2018.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

100% Albarino from Rias Baixas.
Beautiful yellow/greenhues, look for big aromas of melon, lemon curd, lemongrass, and chamomile.
The flavours are pure and with lots of concentration. Good acids. Somewhat funky smoke notes. Morelemon amd lime. Apple, and heavy citrus peel. Really satisfying.
Fun fact; Alba means white and rino refers to the Rhine, in Germany. That means some thought that Albarino and Riesling share ancestry. This has proven false, as this grape is mentioned in early texts much later (12th c.) than Riesling (14th c.). It is probably much closer to French Manseng, since they are both thermophiles (they love the heat). Riesling does not.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

100% Albariño from Spain’s Rias Baixas region. Mainly citrus lime on nose, with lime zest, tart apple and melon notes on the crisp palate. Ideal with seafood stew or grilled garlic shrimp.
Tasted Sept. 2018
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromas of honeydew melon, green apple and lime carry through on the palate with a crisp and zesty lime finish. Medium bodied up front with a wonderful twist of acidity on the back end, making this a perfect pairing with seafood cooked in butter sauces.
Tasted Sept 2018.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A soft and clean Albariño from Ablanta estates. Aromas show - grapefruit citrus, green apple, yellow peppers, and fresh cilantro. Flavours are crisp showing grapefruit, apple skins with salt and pepper touches at the end. Pair this with oysters or fresh clams. 88 points - tasted September 2018
Albanta 2016 is a vibrant and medium-bodied Albariño from the Rías Baixas wine region produced by Altos de Torona. This is zesty wine to accompany seafood dishes. Look for vibrant lemon-lime zest, green apple flavours doted with tropical fruit notes. Enjoy now with steamed crab or lobster. - Community Wine Reviews
